Londonderry Boy Scout Troop 521 for years has helped welcome the new year with the annual tree bonfire, collecting Christmas trees, piling them on a big heap and then lighting a fire to keep those attending warm and firing up a lot of community goodwill.
Previous years the bonfire was early Jan (date is TBD for 2024) at Mack’s Apples farmstead and parking lot area on Mammoth Road. People can begin dropped off their trees at 9 a.m., continuing throughout the day until the fire is officially lit at dusk.
Londonderry and surrounding town residents can retire their trees for a donation, then be part of the annual burn.
