InactiveHerewith the text of an email I sent to Tim Wege this morning (Tu 4 Dec 2018) — I’m wondering whether any of our neighbors has noticed this truck driving through our neighborhood today, and whether it has business in Hickory Woods or is cutting through on its way to and from another work site:
This morning I have been seeing (and hearing) a big yellow dump truck going back and forth on Quarry Road — heading toward West Road with a full load of dirt and returning empty. Is he working somewhere in Hickory Woods, or is he cutting through our neighborhood from one of the many construction sites along Route 102?
If he is cutting through our neighborhood, is there any way we can prevent that? Are these “private” roads? Since we have to pay for their maintenance and repair, it seems like we should be able to exclude non-residents from using our roads — especially large heavy vehicles which produce more wear and tear on the roads.
And then there is the safety issue — many residents walk along our streets (since we don’t have sidewalks) for exercise or with their dogs, and large difficult-to-manoeuvre trucks pose a bigger danger to pedestrians (especially elderly ones) than passenger cars do.
If you could please let me know whether this issue has come up before the Board in the past, and whether there are any plans to address cut-through traffic, I would appreciate it.
Thanks so much –
Mary L. Sullivan / 11 Quarry Road
PS – Of course, if he IS working in our neighborhood, I guess it’s OK for him to use our roads! 🙂

InactiveThank you, Bill, for that information! I drove by there today — what exactly is happening there? Is it a septic issue, or are they building a retaining wall, or what??
