Has anyone had to change light bulbs inside or outside the house? We have lived here only one year and all 3 of our light bulbs went out in our outside lamp, the bulbs on the high kitchen ceiling have gone out twice, a bulb in our overhead front door light has gone out twice as well as bedroom and dining room bulbs. We replaced them with the same bulbs that the electrician put in. 1) is there a longer lasting bulb we should purchase and 2) is there someone available to call to help replace them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have replaced many of my often used incandescent light bulbs and all of my CFL spot lights with long life (22 year) LED light bulbs. The fact that the price of LED bulbs have come down significantly recently and the fact that they use far less electricity makes them a good choice. Just make sure you select 2700 K LED’s if you want them to look as warm as an incandescent bulb and choose a dimmable bulb if the switch has a dimmer.

I replaced my three 60 watt incandescent light bulbs on my outdoor lamp post with three candelabra base LED bulbs. Each bulbs is a 60 watt equivalent that only uses 6.5 watts. That is a total of only 19.5 watts of power consumption versus 180 watts. With the lamp post being on all night long, you would probably save some change after a short period of time.

      Hope this helps.

I have also changed over our most commonly used lights to LED’s, and we love it! (btw: the original lamp post bulbs from my experience have a 1/2 life of a couple of months. I replaced 5 houses worth last year when my neighbors were away for the winter — it was Dark out here!)

I bought a bulb changer/extender pole for the high ceiling lights, and it works like a charm:

if anyone wants to borrow it, just send me an email or call.
