October 2024: Photo Tour of our Community Library. My, how we’ve grown!

The HW Library has a wonderful collection of books (fiction and nonfiction) as well as an amazing array of puzzles. We accept donations – thank you! We focus on “good reads” and have no room for coffee table books, craft books – these will be donated to the Friends of the Leach Library ongoing book sale.

11/13/2021 UPDATE on our PUZZLE LIBRARY puzzles

Thanks to the amazing donations, our Puzzle Library has grown tremendously.

Because of the dramatic expansion, the shelves for puzzles has been relocated to the “meeting room” next to the HW Library.

These puzzles vary in size from 100 pieces to 2000 pieces.

DONATIONS are welcome.

They are ready for you to take home – ENJOY!

The BOD has given the OK to adding puzzles to our library. Great news!

DONATIONS NEEDED! If you would like to donate adult (not children’s) jigsaw puzzles in gently-used condition, please bring them to the HW Library and place them in the corner / book return bin

The basic “ground rules” will be the same as the rest of our library:

  • Puzzles donated will be
    • Evaluated for appropriateness and condition of the box and completeness of the puzzle pieces
    • Marked with stickers, “Hickory Woods Puzzle Library”
  • HW Residents may borrow puzzles
    • There is no checkout procedure – just take it home and enjoy
    • There is no “due date”
    • Return puzzles to the puzzle rack

Our Community Library is OPEN during this Pandemic. Treat yourself to a great read.

  • Kindly wash / disinfect your hands before and after you visit
  • Return your borrowed books (or donated books) to the Return Bin. They will be wiped down and disinfected before shelving by the Library Gnomes.
  • Check out this “special collection” of books (below). Someone definitely had too much time on their hands! (Hint…check out the titles….)

We have grown again…another 6 shelf bookcase and a 3 shelf bookcase. THANK YOU to the Board of Directors for approving the purchase and to Bob McGrath and Rick Jenkins for installing (securing) them.

The Nonfiction books are in the 3 shelf unit. There is a “Biography” section within this nonfiction section.

This Community Library is a celebration of READING and SHARING. It is a collection of good reading books that have been donated so that we can all enjoy them.

How do I borrow a book?

  • Browse to find one that interests you
  • Take it home – NO checkout
  • NO due dates!
  • Return it when  you are finished
  • Place it in the “Return” Bin in the corner
  • REPEAT

Are donations still needed?

  • Absolutely!
  • Any books that cannot be added will be donated to the public library book sale.
  • Place donations in the “Return” bin

11/15/2018 Update – we have 2 new bookcases

Our Community Library is almost a year old and has been quite popular. We have had a steady flow of books borrowed. Thanks to the many terrific donations; HW residents have great taste in books!

FYI – we have about 500 books in our collection.

We have expanded to two additional 6-shelf bookcase to accommodate all the books. Thanks to Ron Daigle and Doug Perrigo for installing the new cases.

MATERIALS ACCEPTED: “Good reading” books in good condition (hardcover or softcover)

How Do I Borrow a Book? Easy…just grab and go.

How Do I Return a Book? Easy….just drop it in the plastic tub to the left of the shelves.

HOW TO DONATE:

  • Place books in the donation box in the Library.
  • Books that cannot be used will be donated to the Londonderry Friends of Library or recycled.
