HW Board of Directors (BOD) Discussion Forum

When: 27 September 2016 at 7PM

Location: Hickory Woods Clubhouse, main floor

The Hickory Woods Board of Directors invites unit owners and residents to a forum aimed at answering questions and explaining what the Board has been doing and what our plans are for the near future. During this meeting we will review what the Board has done this year, talk about how we operate and provide a look ahead to what must be completed before the end of this year and early in 2017.

We have planned the 2017 annual meeting for March. This forum will provide a midyear update and allow us to answer your questions and have discussions with the Board that you might not want to delay until next March.

To facilitate the meeting, we ask that you submit your questions in advance to the HW BOD email address. This will allow us to understand your questions and to prepare answers that adequately respond to the questions. During the meeting, we will read and respond to the questions submitted in advance.

There has been much discussion in the community about what the Board of Directors do and how we operate. Often the information being discussed and provided is incomplete or inaccurate. This forum will provide the same, accurate information to everyone who attends. So please send in your questions and plan on attending the meeting.

Sincerely,

The Hickory Woods Board of Directors

  1. To HW BOD,
Thank you to the board for the update from their last meeting and a guide to the upcoming meeting on the 27th. It was quite informative and well written.
The only objection I have with the letter was under Things everyone should know about the board. In paragraph ten, it was stressed that the board is conscious of the appearance of the neighborhood. I couldn’t agree more. However, time and time again I’ve mentioned to various members of the board the deplorable condition of the hill behind our property on 33 Black Forest. I’ve even written to Harvard management group concerning this eyesore.
Their response was to tell me they would refer this matter back to your board. Again, we’ve heard from no one on the board. This condition is not only tough to look at daily, but with the seasonal drought, it also seems to be a fire hazard. Any suggestions or remedies from the board in regards to this matter would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Marty Quinn

  2. To HW Bod I agree with Marty Quinn. Our back yard looks like a wheat field that needs harvesting! Nothing is being done with it. If nothing else at least a weed wacker could be used to take it down.
    Thank you
    Dot Bouchard

  3. 1. The Board has many different things to content with. I am wondering if at some time there will be committees formed by volunteers that would be responsible for certain aspects of concern to the community such as landscaping, roads, by-laws review, and rules review. The committees would report to the Board.
    2. When will the board meetings be open to the resident?

    1. I totally agree with Marty and Dot about the look of the community and the need to have some changes. I have a similar problem along the access road to the cell tower next to my property. Believe me I want it cleaned up!

I do think that asking the board at this moment about these things and other issues such as committees or open meetings is a bit early. Let the election of board members occur and then let the new board look into these issues so all members will be on same page and new ones not playing catch up.

A question as we are considering all candidates. When John K. put out his letter, he said you had voluntarily removed your name as a candidate for the good of the community.

Why have you decided to now put your name back in as a candidate? What has changed?
We wish all the candidates good luck for their willingness to serve.
