I would like to submit a simplified alternative to term limits. Have periodic (3, 4, 5 yrs) elections for ALL board members. Existing board members, who want to continue to serve, could submit their names for re-election. Board members that no longer want to serve would not place their name on the ballot. Other residents that would like to serve could place their name on the ballot. In the future, if residents believe a board member has served too long, they would have the option to not vote for them.

Bob and all neighbors – I think that what you are suggesting is exactly what’s being proposed. The stumbling block causing the confusion is the word “limits.” The question is about establishing TERMS for the BOD with regular elections. As it is now, there is NO end to the term of a board member. The additional question is if the election of board members should be staggered.

Everyone – please complete the survey on BOD term duration: bit.ly/HWtermlimits
The second survey is about the HOA funds: bit.ly/HWreservefunds
      Due date: August 1

      Ann, thank for the clarification.

I would just like to add that Bob’s suggested alternative is the same as answering the survey that you want the “3 years” and “simultaneous” option. That would mean every three years you’d have an election and board members could choose to run again – or not – and new people could add their names to the ballot at that time.

I would like to elaborate on our response to term limits: we think staggered elections of 2 member and 3 members on alternate years would provide continuity and enable to anyone so desiring to nominate themselves for any expiring position on the Board while not limiting the number of terms one can serve.
