  • Are you a caregiver? Your self-care is important – be good to yourself to avoid burnout.
  • Support Groups are important. Go online to find what groups are meeting in the area. St. Peter Episcopal Church has one that meets Mondays at 11 AM.
  • TAGS/alarms to wear or carry:
    • Call for help in the event of a fall
    • Can identify you as an Alzheimer patient – contact a loved one. Contact the Alzheimer’s Foundation to get a button.
    • Can indicate a DNR (especially if you don’t want to have CPR). Be sure to post a DNE
  • DRUG.com – identifies medications and interactions
  • Outside help:
    • Loaner Closet in Derry: everything from ice machines to a knee scooter or a shower chair
    • Community Caregivers – a variety of services
      • Rides
      • Home maitenance
      • Pick up groceries, visit you at home
    • ADRC – Aging and Disability Resource Center – for Aging Adults www.ad.gov 866-634-9412
    • SOAR through police department – respite care
    • Expensive meds – look into financial support from foundations
    • Food:
      • Meals on Wheels
      • Mom’s Meals
      • Heart to Home Meals: free delivery; many insurance companies will cover

    • CFI – Caregivers For Independence (Alby Bronson is a case manager for them)
      • Have to sign up and qualify
      • Medical evaluation by a nurse from the state – home visit
      • If you qualify, you seleca a case manager
        • Develop a care plan based on care assessment
        • ADL – Activities of Daily Living (everything you do in a day)
        • PCS – Personal Care Specialist – can be assigned to a variety of hours
    • Find out if you qualify for help: 1-800-ASK-DHHS
