- Are you a caregiver? Your self-care is important – be good to yourself to avoid burnout.
- Support Groups are important. Go online to find what groups are meeting in the area. St. Peter Episcopal Church has one that meets Mondays at 11 AM.
- TAGS/alarms to wear or carry:
- Call for help in the event of a fall
- Can identify you as an Alzheimer patient – contact a loved one. Contact the Alzheimer’s Foundation to get a button.
- Can indicate a DNR (especially if you don’t want to have CPR). Be sure to post a DNE
- DRUG.com – identifies medications and interactions
- Outside help:
- Loaner Closet in Derry: everything from ice machines to a knee scooter or a shower chair
- Community Caregivers – a variety of services
- Rides
- Home maitenance
- Pick up groceries, visit you at home
- ADRC – Aging and Disability Resource Center – for Aging Adults www.ad.gov 866-634-9412
- SOAR through police department – respite care
- Expensive meds – look into financial support from foundations
- Food:

- Mom’s Meals
- Heart to Home Meals: free delivery; many insurance companies will cover

- CFI – Caregivers For Independence (Alby Bronson is a case manager for them)
- Have to sign up and qualify
- Medical evaluation by a nurse from the state – home visit
- If you qualify, you seleca a case manager
- Develop a care plan based on care assessment
- ADL – Activities of Daily Living (everything you do in a day)
- PCS – Personal Care Specialist – can be assigned to a variety of hours
